First Oven Heating: Record Changes Before Choosing a Repair

Vitcas Outdoor Oven Cement for suitable oven joints

A new crack observed after the first firing does not indicate a single cause by itself. Support, moisture, materials, and the oven preparation method are significant. Instead of immediately covering the change, gather information that allows you to compare the state before the next work stage.

Review the dates each layer was installed

Record the dates of bricklaying, repairs, and recent wet work. Outdoor Oven Cement has specific setting and heating preparation requirements. A set joint surface does not confirm that the entire section has dried.

Also take into account Heatproof Screed, bricks, and finishing. Check for water marks at the base and entrance. A long pause does not ensure drying if the device is still damp from the adjacent layer.

Describe the change in a specific location

Photograph the cold chamber and housing with a visible reference point. Indicate whether the crack runs through the material, the joint, or the part interface. Add movement, a loose fragment, or a support change instead of limiting the description to the word crack.

Record the heating stages carried out according to the device and product instructions. Do not confirm the readiness of a damp oven by rapidly increasing the fire. There is no single temperature or time describing the preparation of every possible setup.

Choose the repair after assessing the function

Heat Resistant Filler has described applications for appropriate minor defects and joints. It is not an automatic repair for every chamber crack nor a way to stop structural movement. First, determine the extent of the damage.

If the change is enlarging or a part is losing support, suspend further use until the cause is clarified. Keep previous photos even after the repair. They will allow you to check the result and distinguish a new change from a location that has already been assessed.
